Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a difficult year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has won twenty-one titles at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a title is really nice," said world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first tour victory, took control to push for a final set.

He saved 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
